Po Leung Kuk Board pays courtesy call on the Education Bureau
(21 November 2018, Hong Kong) Po Leung Kuk is one of the major school sponsoring bodies in Hong Kong. There are more than hundreds of affiliated educational units covering from early childhood education to post-secondary education. Po Leung Kuk Board of Directors 2018-2019 pays courtesy call to Mr Kevin Yeung, the Secretary for Education, and senior officials. Both parties exchanged views on educational service development and agreed to further achieve quality education through continuously close cooperation. In the future, Po Leung Kuk will make a new attempt on educational services development. Po Leung Kuk is currently preparing a Professional Education Institute to provide qualified training and sustainable courses for talents specialized in education and social services. This offers the much needed support to the vocational and professional education, and improvement of education raised in the policy address.
Dr Margaret W L CHOI, Chairman of Po Leung Kuk, , gives an introduction on the Kuk’s latest services and future development. She proactively replies on the development of education raised in the policy address. She expresses that as the Education Bureau implements complementary qualified kindergarten policies, kindergarten teachers and their professional trainings are expected to be in great demand. Po Leung Kuk is preparing for Po Leung Kuk Professional Education Institute, which positions at cultivating vocational talents to improve the quality of professions, in order to cope with the need of Hong Kong future education development. At the beginning of the establishment of the Education Institute, practical training courses will be provided to child care teachers and for those who aim to devote their career in the child care industry. This can strengthen their knowledge on frontline work and skills.
Apart from passing on knowledge to students and cultivating virtues, Po Leung Kuk focuses on students’ psychological and physical health. Affiliated Schools are now progressively extending education scheme, to cultivate students’ positive values, attitudes and enhance their resilience. Based on the teaching materials and content, the child care speech therapy team under Po Leung Kuk designs a set of training menu which helps to enhance students’ communication and presentation skills.
Po Leung Kuk encourages students to broaden their horizons through exploring variety of cities. About 530 principals, teachers and students participated in the upcoming exchange program to Beijing. The exchange program promotes the friendship and goodwill between Hong Kong and Beijing Students. In an earlier National Education Excursion, 100 principalss and teachers visited Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. They have also visited the Aircraft Industry Companies and the Hengqin New Area Exhibition Hall in Zhuhai to learn about country’s economic, latest technology and future development.
